  • Theory: Applied systems thinking for sustainable business (model) innovation.
  • Mapping current business model with the ‘Systemic Business Model Canvas 4 Sustainability’.

Using a variety of specially designed templates, trigger questions grounded in sustainability principles and proven frameworks, we’ll guide you to explore the following:

  • 1.1  Universal Human Needs
    Which Universal Human Needs does our Product/Service satisfy for our target audience? How?
  • 1.2 Social System Actors
    Which Social System Actors (all direct & indirect stakeholders) do we relate with throughout our value chain? Where are they located?
  • 1.3 Ecological Input & Output
    Which input do we require throughout our value chain? Which output do we generate throughout the life cycle? Which ecological systems are impacted? In which way?
  • 1.4 Strategic Direction & Capital
    What’s our vision of success? Which values do we build on? How do we define our purpose and core ideology? Which Key Performance Indicators do we use to measure success? Which types of capital do we depend on?

  • Theory: 8 Sustainability Principles of the ‘Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development’.
  • Exploration of two example products/services through the lens of the Sustainability Principles.

Using a variety of specially designed templates, trigger questions grounded in sustainability principles and proven frameworks, we’ll guide you to explore the following:

  • 2.1 Types of Satisfaction
    Which Universal Human Needs does our Product/Service negatively influence or impact?
  • 2.2 Social Sustainability
    How are we contributing to structural societal obstacles preventing people from meeting their needs?
  • 2.3 Ecological Sustainability
    How are we contributing to systemic increases of harmful substances that are degrading to ecological systems?
  • 2.4 Strategic Focus Areas
    What do we need to focus on? What’s most severe? What’s most structural or systematic?

Step 3 - Innovate!

  • Theory: Concepts and principles, business goals for sustainable business modelling.
  • Developing design constraints for sustainable innovation.

Using a variety of specially designed templates, trigger questions grounded in sustainability principles and proven frameworks, we’ll guide you to explore the following:

  • 3.1 Synergic Satisfaction
    How might we improve the satisfaction we offer to our target audience by creating more synergy between our product/service and their universal human needs?
  • 3.2 Social Resilience
    How might we improve our social impact performance and enhance our capacity to adapt with agility to our fast-changing context.
  • 3.3 Ecological Circularity
    How might we improve our environmental impact performance and support regeneration of the ecosystems we depend on?
